The Family Business Foundation is a wholly independent nonprofit organization legally structured as a separate 501(c)(3) under the United States federal tax code.

This independence allows us to focus on long-term community solutions and strategic philanthropic work that reaches beyond short-term cycles and immediate outcomes.

We work alongside mission-aligned individuals and organizations by offering support that helps communities build toward sustainable and measurable progress.

The Family Business Foundation pursues this mission by focusing on four primary pillars of action, known as their "Core Four" priorities:

Economic Empowerment: Providing tools to help families achieve financial independence and build sustainable futures.

Education: Promoting lifelong learning, access to education, and academic growth.

Health Equity: Advocating for wellness and equal access to healthcare in marginalized communities.

Our Story

Our Story Began With a Commitment to Community

Founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in March 2020, The Family Business Foundation, LLC was established as an independent nonprofit organization with a clear purpose—to serve as a catalyst for justice, peace, and stronger communities through collaborative action.

From the beginning, the Foundation was created to support grassroots ideas and community-based initiatives that are rooted in meaningful change. We recognized that many impactful ideas begin close to home—within neighborhoods, communities, and among people who understand the real needs around them.

Today, we continue to invest in partnerships and programs that strengthen communities while helping leaders turn vision into action.

Morgan Bailey

Morgan Bailey, Executive Director of the Family Business Foundation NC, drives organizational growth and regional impact through expert nonprofit management.

Morgan leverages her extensive nonprofit management expertise to scale the foundation's vital programs. Her dedicated leadership bridges community needs with resources to deliver impactful services to families in both North Carolina and Maryland.

Tonya Eaton

Tonya, Chief Financial Officer at the Family Business Foundation NC, drives community impact through executive financial leadership and strategic program development.

Tonya combines her executive financial oversight with a passion for service to build strong organizational foundations. Her leadership ensures resources are maximized efficiently to create lasting, meaningful change for vulnerable populations.

Dennell Gainey

As the Executive Administrative Assistant, Dennell serves as a vital component of the organizational structure within the family business foundation in North Carolina. Working in a dynamic hybrid role, Dennell effectively bridges the gap between foundation operations, community partners, and family leadership. Her tasks include daily administration, board coordination, grant tracking, and managing high-priority family projects, all conducted with complete discretion. By streamlining daily operations, this role ensures the foundation can efficiently achieve its philanthropic mission.

Bobby Eaton

As Board Chair and Interim Fundraising & Grants Development Ambassor at the Family Business Foundation NC, he improves grantmaking systems and processes through data, insight, and equitable practices. His goal is to deliver an exceptional grantee experience while building stronger and more effective grant management systems.

Jayla Hairson

Jayla, Human Resources Director at the Family Business Foundation NC, drives community impact through leadership and program development.

Jayla leverages her professional HR expertise to design impactful programs that support organizational growth. Her dedicated service ensures that the foundation effectively meets the needs of vulnerable populations.

Robin Nile

As Board Secretary of the Family Business Foundation NC/MD, Robin supports the organization’s mission with dedication and leadership. With years of nonprofit experience and a master’s degree in public health, her work focuses on communications, advocacy, and public relations.

Krystal Bailey

Krystal serves as the Board Treasurer for the Family Business Foundation, bringing financial leadership and strategic dedication to the organization since joining as a member in 2023. In this vital role on the board, Krystal manages the foundation's financial health, ensuring its resources are stewardly directed to support and sustain family businesses.

Felica Mullens

Felicia serves as the Board Vice Chair for the Family Business Foundation, an organization she has proudly been a member of since 2020. In this leadership role, Felicia spearheads the Pathway Transit Precious Cargo Program, driving initiatives that ensure safe, reliable, and vital transportation solutions for the community's most treasured assets.
